Jack of all Trades

... and employed with none.

For those of you who read my first post, you may have noticed that I'm somewhat disenfranchised with my current employment situation (read: fed up). Or you may have noticed that I'm somewhat inept at writing an extended metaphor (what's a metaphor? It's to graze your cows in! *buh-dum dum*).

My frustration is that I'm a true "Jack of all trades and master of none". I have a huge breadth of talents and abilities, yet not the depth that I need. I realized this one night as I gathered together with my friends at Bingo's. After helping Marty with some computer repair problems that he had, I switched the subject to a needed car repair that I had to do. After I finished with the car repair, I cleaned the grease off my hands and did some work editing some videos I had shot. I can cook, clean, and sew proficiently; do carpentry, mechanics, video editing, computer repair, writing, teaching ... blah blah blah.

And I'm scraping by on a relatively-small salary for a college graduate. Granted I chose to spend four years in Bible college only to follow it up with working outside of my field. Most of that is due to being generally disenfr-... ah, fed up - with politics in the church. (As my wife says, Bible college broke me). Regardless - we'll save that for another blog.

I've been the "Jack of all Trades" for most of my life. Even in middle and high school, I was not a 4.0 student, but I made good grades. I was not the star athlete, but I held myself well in wrestling. I was not the first chair cellist, but I still love playing.

There really should be a position for someone like me. Someone with a variety of experiences and talents - even though he does not particularly shine at one.

I know! I'll gather my life-experiences, combine it with a venomous sarcasm, and communicate that to people who will pay to laugh at my misery!

*poof* A comedian is born...
